Buffalo Trace 9 Years Old Experimental Collection Made With Oats 2002. Wanting to try something new, the whisky elves at Buffalo Trace decided to chuck a handful of oats into their mash bill along with their regular grains of corn and malt. It was then aged for 9 years and 5 months on the 7th floor of warehouse I before being bottled up in 2011. And so how did this experiment go? Well, it has a rich and complex nose with a little smoke. On the palate you’ll find dried fig, stone fruit and more smoke before arriving at a nice earthy finish.
